How One Year of Self-Care Changed Everything for Bianca

Sharon Templeton 25 November 2025

At Temple Day Spa, we have always believed that self-care is not a luxury — it is a necessity. But every now and then, a story comes along that reminds us just how powerful that truth really is.

This is Bianca's story.

Bianca is a mum of three primary-aged boys and a business owner. Like so many women, she pours her energy into everyone around her and rarely stops long enough to refill her own cup. Rest only happened when her body forced her to slow down: the tight neck, the headaches, the exhaustion that can no longer be ignored.

But in 2024, something changed.

Bianca purchased two gift vouchers for family birthdays — and with them, unknowingly entered our competition to win a year's worth of massages at Temple Day Spa. When she received the call to say she had won, she didn't quite believe it. But month after month, that prize became more than a treat… it became a turning point.

Making Time for Herself — Every Month

Bianca showed up rain, hail or shine. She arrived on Unley Road carrying the weight of a full life — motherhood, business, the daily rush — and stepped inside the dark, quiet oasis of Temple.

Every visit started the same way: deep breaths, warm hands, the scent of essential oils. A gentle unraveling. A moment to stop.

She describes the experience as a reset. Not just for her body, but her mind and spirit too.

My shoulders felt lighter. The headaches eased. I walked out a little dazed from being so relaxed… but ready to keep going.

The Power of Connection

Part of what made Bianca's year so special was the team who cared for her. From being greeted by Chloe's warm smile, to unforgettable treatments with Marlana, Thea, Julia and others — she felt supported, seen, and genuinely cared for.

She often said it felt like stepping into a welcoming home away from home. An oasis where life stops for an hour.

From Guilty Pleasure to Essential Ritual

Perhaps the biggest transformation was internal.

Like many women, Bianca initially saw self-care as a guilty pleasure — something “nice,” but not essential. Over the year, that shifted completely. She realised that the hour she spent on the massage table wasn't indulgent. It was what allowed her to be present in the rest of her life.

What started as a guilty pleasure has made me see that this is something I not only need, but want. And it's ok to want things that make you feel wonderful.

Her monthly treatments became a ritual. A commitment to herself. A reminder that she deserves the same care she gives others.

A Message to Every Woman

Bianca's story is a beautiful testament to what happens when we finally make time for ourselves — not at the edge of burnout, but consistently, lovingly, and without apology.

She ended her letter to us with gratitude, but we want to reflect that gratitude back to her.

Thank you, Bianca, for reminding all of us that when women take care of themselves, everything in life feels more manageable, more centred, and more possible.

If Bianca could make time for herself this year, maybe you can too.

Because self-care isn't selfish. It's sustaining. It's essential. And you deserve it.
